to my slight horror today at a ghastly 7.33pm,

i discovered i might have been thinking in words.

just that somehow the visuals are quick, immediate enough to be translated from those string of exotic sounding abcs....

Pronounce "SCHEVENINGEN".

As I was reading up on some dutch culture for my design case study... I came upon this paragraph that talked about the Dutch language.

"Many visitors mistakenly think that the Dutch language comes from German. This is absolutely incorrect, and is even considered insulting by many Dutch and German speakers. Dutch is a Germanic language, but is still very different; it is definitely NOT easy for Germans to speak Dutch, or vice versa. Example: during the war, some Germans hiding in Holland pretended to be Dutch. Many of them were caught when they were asked to pronounce the word SCHEVENINGEN (a sea side resort near The Hague). The popular belief was that it is impossible for Germans to pronounce this word correctly (also impossible for English speakers!), and so that's how they were caught. "

This reminded me of the same example this dutch guy whom I shared a train cabin told me about. (Hun, if you remembered, I asked to ride with this rather cute guy with a discount pass to go home fr your Delft.) It was fun cuz he was quite easy to talk to, raised this example after I told him how difficult it was to learn Dutch. Then when he mentioned Scheveningen it was quite coincidental too cuz i had just visited that beach with hun on that same trip. Quite unfortunately, I think I might have made another friend(since we could chat quite well, he was from Tu/e too but engineering and doing his masters, had an exchange internship in India. cool.), but I walked the other way without being able to say bye to him cuz the crowds quickly separated us though we alighted the same stop.

So... yeah. the point is... sometimes potential friendships just slip off like that.

decision making

i think i havent been making good decisions these days...

its times like this i wish someone has told me ' u should do this.. that'

but i guess i am supposed to find out myself.

i hope its not too late to find that out... or if theres reversible process to undo certain things and change the course of route and outcome eventually.

better late than never,
Right?

btw, i read some horoscope lately and it seems that libra-ns are so impractical because 'they seek balance which is impossible in this world'.

Thanks for enlightening me. something i seem to already know but still am guilty of.

"im a 13 year old gawky teenager again!" -lij's words

i finally made the possibly life changing decision to put on braces.

i did the less conventional way which the sides of the teeth are ground to create space for the one or two obnoxious ones..

the dental tools and the whole grinding thing made me feel like some workpiece at the construction site. and also sounds like some scary cutting machines at my work shop.

nonetheless to say, there were many moments of uncertainty, self doubt and even regrets. this morning, before during the procedure and after, especially. my teeth kinda look frankensteinish(some unnaturally angular because of the cutting tools).. the misalignment kinda accentuated.. and i got the yellow rubber thingy(not really my choice.. i wanted white. okay pink next time)

i also felt bad subjecting my teeth to such torture(especially when i felt funny sensation..am i causing a permanent injury to my teeth?)

now i have to stick to a rigourous long brushing ritual, involving 1 normal soft toothbrush and 1 small special toothbrush, flossing, applying protectioning cream to my teeth to strengthen them(u see, they r weak now, thats y i need to strengthen them)

i can only hope for really pretty teeth and pretty smile at the end of it.
(*cross fingers no more ugly unglam shots from my right profile)

okay la, i admit i hiao la. haha.

but also didnt wana risk my teeth turning more n more outwards as i grow older and mayb creating nice lush spaces for plaque. ha
